Recently, a Dutch judge ruled that the use of WhatsApp during working hours falls within the scope of the principle ‘no work, no pay’. In this case, the freshly-fired employee had sent no less than 1,255 amorous messages in half a year, which according to the Dutch court justified a deduction of a total of € 1500,- from the still-to-be-paid-out outstanding holiday entitlement. Therefore, think twice before you grab that phone from your desk.
